THE SCENARIO..

"I carry a mini blank firing gun in my pocket wherever I go. A surly looking stranger approached me as I was waiting for a bus. I immediately put my hand on my gun and told him to stop. He threatened to kill me if I didn't hand him my money. I knew the next move was mine, so I pulled the gun from my pocket so he could see it. He hesitated and stopped. I could see that he was unsure if I would shoot him.

Yes, you're right... It is a blank firing gun. It fires gunpowder charged loud blanks that are legal in my State. Rather than wait for his move, I pointed my gun at the sky and pulled the trigger. The gunshot sound was loud. The gunpowder flamed just like a real live fire gun and the brass round ejected out the slide. The perp's eyes opened wide and his face paled. He turned around and ran like a rabbit.

The moral of this scenario is that if you don't want to kill someone and don't want to own a real gun, a blank firing gun will in most cases do the same thing. Scare the hell out of them and make them run. The alternative is to give up your money and hope the perp doesn't injure or rape you."
